Vocabulary: Travel and Tourist Transactions

The Russian language has a plethora of vocabulary associated with travelling and tourist transactions.
These are useful for day-to-day situations, making reservations, asking for directions and understanding travel schedules when in Russian speaking countries.

When asking for a ticket you can use билет, for instance, мне нужен билет до Москвы (I need a ticket to Moscow).
If you are a tourist and want to enquire about an excursion, you can ask Какие есть экскурсии? (What excursions are there?).

Always practice the pronunciation of each word and pay attention to the stress pattern.
Remember, many of these words are neuter nouns in Russian.
Become familiar with verbs used for travel actions, like Путешествовать (to travel), Бронировать (to reserve) and Покупать (to buy).
Pay attention to prepositional phrases commonly used with travel words, for example, в аэропорту (at the airport), на автобусной остановке (at the bus stop).

Practise pronouncing these words and try using them in complete sentences. This will allow you to become comfortable with the vocabulary and their use in different contexts.
Engage in role playing for different travel and tourists transactions scenarios. This will help in better understanding and usage of the terms.
