Understanding ‘Identity and Culture’

  • Grasp the concept of individual identity and how it’s shaped by factors such as heritage, gender, beliefs, likes and dislikes, talents, and hopes for the future.
  • Understand the term culture as a combination of ideas, customs, and the social behaviour of a particular group of people or a society.
  • Understand how culture and identity are interconnected, and how each one influences or shapes the other.

Knowing Key Vocabulary

  • Be familiar with key terminology in Polish related to identity and culture.
  • Know terms for family members, hobbies, and interests, descriptors for personality and character, and words related to aspirations and dreams.
  • Understand vocabulary for cultural institutions, traditional and popular customs, social expressions, and norms.

Describing People and Characters

  • Be capable of describing yourself, friends, family members, or other people in Polish using appropriate adjectives and constructions.
  • Know how to discuss someone’s personality, looks, interests, and dreams in detail.
  • Be able to describe fictional characters from literature or television in terms of their identity and culture.
