Explore, Imagine and Entertain
Explore,imagineandentertain
Explore, imagine and entertain writing is particularly hard to divide. You need to engage the reader in an interesting manner with an original idea that is thought provoking.
Entertaining means engaging. It does not require the text to be funny. You must consider an interesting plotline or story that emotionally connects with your reader.
Languagetechniques
- Catch your reader’s attention
You can use the features of writing to describe to help to catch the reader’s attention.
- Create an atmosphere
You must consider what type of atmosphere that you are trying to create. Is it a scary narrative or an adventure narrative?
- Use interesting vocabulary
Remember to use different figurative language. Your use of verbs will be really important in ensuring that your imaginative writing has pace.
- 1st or 3rd person
A first person narrator is when you tell the story from a personal point of view and your own. You will use the word ‘I’. It allows you to show an emotional response of a character.
A second person narrator uses the word ‘you’ and is not used very often.
A third person narrator is when you do not use a personal point of view and you use the word ‘he’ or ‘she’. It allows you to show different people’s point of view.
- Present or past tense
Writing in the past is always easier than writing in the present. You must choose which you find easier and ensure that you stick to it.

That moment made her forget who she was. That moment ruined her marriage. That moment changed her life forever….
He was there, staring at her. His delicious eyes captivated her heart and she knew she wanted him immediately. Glancing down at her hand, her engagement ring sparkled in the moonlight. She immediately slipped it off and placed it into her pocket; she was single again.
She wasn’t married: no ring. He could approach her and he did, confidently…
Waking up, the sun sparkled through the sheer curtains. Passionate and heated was the lust they had shared that night, although she knew it wasn’t love. Love was at home: cooking delicious food; caring for her baby; cleaning her precious car. Instantly, she felt the regret and betrayal. It was time to return home.
Relief flooded over her, as she entered her home. Breathing deeply, she entered the kitchen.
Her passionate and heated lust was sitting at her table, talking to the love of her life.
