Hobbies and Interests

  • Understand common hobby-based terms. For instance, reading (القراءة), writing (الكتابة), playing musical instruments (العزف على الآلات الموسيقية), painting (الرسم), etc.

  • Be ready to discuss your hobbies and why you enjoy them, for example, “I enjoy reading because it expands my knowledge” (أستمتع بالقراءة لأنها توسع معرفتي).

  • Understand how to talk about frequency, such as “I often…” (أنا غالبا ما…), “I sometimes…” (أنا أحيانا…), or “I never…” (أنا أبدا…)

  • Feel confident expressing preferences using expressions like “I prefer…” (أفضل…) or “I am more interested in…” (أنا مهتم أكثر ب…).

  • Familiarise yourself with phrases that indicate past-time activities, like “I used to…” (كنت أ…) and “I have recently started…” (ابتدأت مؤخراً…).

Sport

  • Enhance your vocabulary with common sport-related words. For instance, football (كرة القدم), tennis (التنس), swimming (السباحة), etc.

  • Discuss sport activities you do or are interested in. Consider elaborating on reasons for your interests or disinterests, such as “I enjoy playing football due to the team spirit” (أستمتع بلعب كرة القدم بسبب روح الفريق).

  • Prepare to talk about health benefits related to sports. For example, “Swimming strengthens muscles” (السباحة تقوي العضلات).

  • Discuss major sporting events that interest you, such as the World Cup or the Olympics. Be able to express opinions on them.

  • Familiarise yourself with expressing future plans or aspirations related to sport, like “I plan to take up…” (أنوي بدء…) or “I aim to improve my skills in…” (أهدف إلى تحسين مهاراتي في…).

Use a range of vocabulary, express opinions and provide justification for your views. Also, practice forming questions and responding to them relating to these areas.

Remember, it’s important to demonstrate a good variety of language, in addition to showcasing your range of topical vocabulary and accurate pronunciation. Practicing speaking aloud will help you improve your fluency and confidence.
