Home and Family

  • Be familiar with the names of different rooms and areas in a house in Arabic for example, living room (غرفة المعيشة), kitchen (مطبخ), and garden (حديقة).
  • Learn and use related verbs like live (عاش), sleep (نام), eat (أكل) and play (لعب).
  • Understand and use phrases to describe persons living in the household: father (أب), mother (أم), brother (بلأخ), sister (أخت), etc.
  • Feel confident speaking about family activities and habits at home, like sharing meals, watching TV, doing homework, or playing games.
  • Describe Your Home - Be able to describe your home, its appearance, and its location.
  • Chores and Responsibilities - Be comfortable talking about chores and responsibilities at home (cleaning, cooking, looking after siblings, etc.).

Neighbourhood and Local Amenities

  • Neighbourhood Description - Be familiar with vocabulary needed to describe your neighbourhood (quiet, noisy, safe, etc.).
  • Amenities - Know how to discuss different amenities available in the neighbourhood including shops, parks, schools, hospitals and public transport links.
  • Be able to describe your daily route to school, what you see on the way, etc.
  • Local Community - Understand how to discuss people and happenings in your community.

City and Country

  • City/Country Description - Be able to give a description of your city or country including geographical location, population, weather, favourite places, etc.
  • Landmarks - Know the Arabic words for major landmarks in your city and how to describe them.
  • Comparing Locations - Be ready to compare the city and the countryside, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Problems and Solutions

  • Environmental Issues - Understand vocabulary to describe environmental challenges in your area (pollution, littering, etc).
  • Proposed Solutions - Be prepared to suggest possible solutions to these problems (recycling campaigns, litter bins, etc.).

Always remember to use a variety of Arabic phrases and language structures in your responses and be ready to answer follow-up questions.
