Bonding: Covalent Bonding

Covalent bonds are formed by shared electrons.
Single, double bonds contain one and two pairs of shared electrons respectively.
In a dative covalent bond, both electrons are supplied by the same atom.
Covalent bond is shown with a line, co-ordinate bond with an arrow.
Dot and cross diagrams are used for creating molecules.
