Aftercare advice for clients

Aftercare advice for clients

Preparation of Aftercare Advice

  • Know the importance of preparing and providing aftercare advice to clients post waxing treatment.
  • Understand that aftercare advice is individualised for each client, depending on their skin type, lifestyle, and any pre-existing conditions.

What to Avoid Post-Waxing

  • Advise clients to avoid heat treatments such as sauna, sun bed or even hot bath for at least 24 hours post-waxing as it can lead to skin irritation or burns.
  • Suggest to clients to stay away from sun exposure or sunbathing immediately after waxing since the waxed area would be more sensitive to UV rays.
  • Understand the importance of avoiding perfumed products, including lotions or deodorants, on the waxed area as it can cause skin irritation.
  • Instruct clients to refrain from immediate physical exercises or rigorous activities to prevent sweating and clogging of open pores, making them susceptible to infection.

Care for the Waxed Area

  • Emphasise to clients the need for moisturising the waxed area with a soothing lotion or oil to alleviate any skin irritation and keep the skin nourished.
  • Discuss the benefits of applying a cool ice pack to the waxed area to relieve any immediate discomfort or redness.
  • Guide clients to regularly exfoliate the waxed area, after a couple of days, to prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Inform clients about the possibility of hair regrowth, and provide advice on when the next waxing appointment should be based on their hair growth cycle.

Health and Safety Regulations

  • Follow the guidelines of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 while providing advice to clients, ensuring that all advice given is safe to follow.
  • Be aware of COSHH regulations when recommending products for clients’ use post waxing session.
  • Utilise the guidelines from professional beauty organisations to impart accurate and safe aftercare advice.

Remember these points as they will help in giving a comprehensive aftercare advice to clients, looking into what to avoid post-waxing, care for the waxed area and important health & safety regulations.
