“Would” in Spanish: The modal verb “would” in Spanish is generally associated with the word “would” in English. It’s translated as the conditional tense of “haber” , that is “habría”, or the conditional tense of any verb.
Examples of “Would”:
- I would go – Yo iría
- They would have (something) – Ellos tendrían
“Could” in Spanish: “Could” represents capability or possibility and is often represented in Spanish by “podría” or a verb in the conditional.
Examples of “Could”:
- I could do it – Yo podría hacerlo
- They could see – Ellos podrían ver
“Should” in Spanish: For expressing “should”, Spanish uses “debería” or the verb “deber” in the conditional depending on the context.
Examples of “Should”:
- You should work – Tú deberías trabajar
- They should be – Ellos deberían estar
