  • Familiarise yourself with the ways of making hotel reservations in French. Practice conversations about booking a hotel room (réserver une chambre), asking about the availability (disponibilité), and other amenities provided in the hotel.

  • Learn and revise phrases for asking and giving directions. Understand words like left (à gauche), right (à droite), straight ahead (tout droit), around the corner (au coin), etc.

  • Know how to understand and use French public transport. Practice using names of different types of transport like bus (bus), train (train), tram (tram), taxi (taxi) and phrases needed while buying tickets, or asking the way to the station or airport.

  • Study vocabulary for items you’ll pack in your suitcase like clothes (les vêtements), toiletries (les articles de toilette), passport (le passeport), currency (la monnaie), etc.

  • Understand and use the vocabulary for different meals, like breakfast (petit déjeuner), lunch (déjeuner), and dinner (dîner), common French food and drinks.

  • Learn phrases for dealing with emergencies like needing medical help, losing belongings, or getting lost. Also, learn the French equivalent of important places like a pharmacy (pharmacie), police station (commissariat de police) or hospital (hôpital).

Remember, regular practise in reading, writing, listening and speaking is key to increasing your proficiency in French. Practice with sample dialogues, exercises, and real-life scenarios to make your French fluent and accurate.
